Positive Thinking . . . It’s Your Choice!

You have probably heard of or read the classic book “ The Power of Positive Thinking” written by Norman Vincent Peale. The book is summed up as follows:

“The way to happiness: Keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry. Live simply, expect little, give much.

Scatter sunshine, forget self, think of others.”

Sounds like great advice, doesn’t it? That is because it is! Did you know that you actually have the power to create your own reality simply by thinking it into existence… Yes, you heard that right! Your brain actually works very hard to create what is in your thoughts.

If you are constantly dwelling on negative thoughts such as what is wrong with your life, you will actually attract more of that into your life. If you are grateful for what is going right and focus on how to get more of that in your life, guess what? You will see more good things blossoming in your life.

This principle is true in relationships, finances, health and every other area of our lives. In fact, according to Dr. Caroline Leaf, an expert in cognitive neuroscience, “75% to 95% of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. “ (You can read more of her work at DrLeaf.com) The good news is that you re-program your mind to think positively. If you don’t like the thoughts you are having, simply change them! It will take practice at first and you will have to work at this, especially if you are used to having negative thoughts!

Many people dismiss this as wishful thinking or hokey, but I challenge you to test the theory in your own life. Think good thoughts, believe you can, look for the goodness… And see if you just don’t find it!
